For Immediate Release 05 February2021

Road resurfacing: Sprowston, Blue Boar Lane

Work is due to start on Sunday 21 February 2021 to carry out essential road resurfacing works on a section of the C256 Blue Boar Lane and the main exit and approach to the roundabout with Tesco car park and Blaxter Way, at Sprowston. The work is being carried out at a weekend in order to minimise disruption on this busy section of the network. The works will see the old worn out road surface removed and replaced with a new smooth surface. It is estimated that the work will take around 24 hours to complete (7am to 7am the following day).

To ensure the resurfacing can be carried out swiftly and safely the work will be carried out in two stages. Resurfacing works of a 150m length of Blue Boar Lane, that includes the pedestrian crossing, will carried out during the day. During this first stage a section of Blue Boar Lane from its main roundabout opposite the Tesco petrol station to a distance 330m south will need to be closed from 7am to 7pm. Access to properties will be maintained. A fully signed official diversion route will be in place during the works.

The second stage of the works will cover the main exit and approach to the roundabout with Tesco car park and Blaxter Way. This work will not be started until 5pm to minimise disruption to customers and staff of Tesco and Lidl. Access to both businesses and local residents will be maintained although some minor delays are inevitable.

If access for Emergency Services for residents is required, the site staff will ensure access past the works.

The work which will cost around £75,000 will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department and their contractors.

Norfolk County Council thanks people for their patience while this road surface improvement work is carried out.
