The Beacon was the Town Newspaper for Thorpe St Andrew from 1992 to Spring 2009. A twelve page full colour tabloid newspaper it primarily featuring Town Council news suported by local advertising. It also featured a wide range of local news, events, issues effecting the Town, and information for local residents.

6750 copies of The Beacon were delivered free to residents in Thorpe St Andrew by volunteers.The last edition was Issue 45 and it was published on 3 April 2009.

The future of the newspaper was reviewed and in August 2009 an eight page black and white A4 size newsletter was produced as an alternative to the tabloid newspaper format.
